Attentiveness is a gift we give one another. True communication isn’t something that can be done to someone – only with someone.
Sometimes communication amounts to a minor miracle: Mutual, soul-deep understanding requires the touch of the divine.

At times, I’ve wanted to believe that my ideas will reach their intended destination as long as I bundle them neatly enough inside coherent language (written or spoken). But the truth of the matter is that somebody is going to have to pay attention and open their mind to what I’m hoping to communicate. And that amounts to a very sweet gift.
Secondarily, I’m suggesting that there’s something miraculous about it.
