note to self

Exhaustion is not a gift of the Spirit.

Hey Scott, ran across this blog through your Facebook profile! I hope all is well in your world.

Great reminder. I have recently decided that getting enough sleep is often the most important spiritual discipline there is. It's so hard to protect against burnout.

Hi Annie! Thanks for stopping by. Yes, this is something I’m taking more and more seriously. And I’m gradually accepting the truth that nobody else is going to make it happen for me. As much as I sometimes feel like a victim of the pace of life and the weight of its burdens, it really is my choice to invite Sabbath into the middle of it or not.

Are you getting to do plenty of music?

True. Nor is exhaustion always physical. The gift of a Sabbath moment, hour or day provides a balm for emotional and mental exhaustion, as well as my tired bod. A good night's sleep is a staple for me.

Scott, you used to be able to take half hour naps almost anywhere. Can you still do that?

Love, Mom

In theory, I can still "power nap" but I no longer have the time or space. It is currently a missing puzzle piece...

Will there be room for a futon in your new office space? Maybe we need to consider that. Mom
